Species laboratory mouse
Strain Type COI (coisogenic strain),MSR (mutant strain)
Mutant Type TM (Target Mutation)
Other Names
Background Strain 129
Strain Description
1.  This mouse model offers a control for Achondroplasia (ACH) mouse model (129/Sv-Fgfr3tm1.1(FGFR3*)Ytc/Narl).
2.  The targeting vector was designed to replace the mouse Fgfr3 with human wild type FGFR3 cDNA under the full control of the endogenous mouse Fgfr3 promoter, intron 1, and 5’ and 3’ untranslated regions. The ES cells derived from 129 carrying targeting vector was electroporated into C57BL/6J blastocysts. The Chimeric mice were crossed with 129/Sv. The offspring were maintained in 129/Sv background.
3.  Mice homozygous for this allele are viable and fertile.
4.  Mice heterozygous and homozygous for this allele showed identical external phenotypes to those of 129/Sv background strain. The growth rates were the same between heterozygote homozygote and 129/Sv.
