Species laboratory mouse
Strain Type COI (coisogenic strain),MSR (mutant strain)
Mutant Type TG (Transgenic)
Other Names
Background Strain NOD/Sytwu
Strain Description 1. Transgene consists of human insulin promoter and mouse heme oxygenase 1.
2. There were 1~5 copies of transgene in the genome of this strain.
3.  Hmox1 was expressed specifically in the pancreas of this strain.
4. Reduced of the severity of insulitis and protection of autoimmune diabetes were observed in this strain compared with non-transgenic littermate.
5. The expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), granzyme B, Il1b, Tnf-α, Ifng, and the chemokines Ccl2, Ccl3, Ccl4, Ccl5, and Cxcl10 was significantly decrease in transgenic islets compared with controls.
6. Proapoptotic gene, such as caspase-3, and -8, was also markedly lower in transgenic islets than in controls.
